    Fishing Season 2014

Alright fellas, I took a break last year from doing some serious fishing for God knows what reason. My dad and I spent all day yesterday looking over the old 1978 bass tracker III he owns (thing is a beaut). The original tank's fuel valve finally quit working and we went ahead and replaced everything associated with the fuel line. The old 40 Mercury still purs like a kitten. A new battery too. Trailer tires have air and I am ready for 2014!

Anyone catching those sac-a-lait - white perch - crappie yet?

Bass prespawn is pretty much over down here is south louisiana. How are the bass moving up there?

I had no luck yesterday, but I didn't have the big takle box with me....I have four. I found about 10 bass stacked up on a dead end canal off the bayou I cruise around in. The only weedless thing I had was a frog. The first cast I made they slapped at it. It was nice to get the boat wet and be on the water again.

Down near the Indian Mounds is where most of the big fish on Toledo are being caught right now. I went to the Louisiana Sportsman's website the other day, and there were about 5 or 6 stories posted on the front page about guys landing 10s and 12s from that area.

I fished a little 1-day charity tournament on Toledo near Converse last week with a buddy, and all we caught was a 3 pounder. We fought some incredibly dense fog all day. None of the other boats around us were catching anything, either.

Nice! I go down there a few times a year, but usually during the summer/early fall. Can't wait to get down there!

Nice bull! I went out last weekend to get the boat wet. I got a couple of sacs no bigger than my hand. The water was terrible. I'm hoping to head out Tuesday after work for a little bass action.

this was north of the camp a few miles, back in a "square" area back of the lake/river. you gotta know as soon as I got back to the hotel I fired up google earth and marked every place we went to didn't try the crabs, after all the driving we just wanted to go rest, eat, and watch the dawgs take on fla state.

Don't blame ya. I hooked-up with one back in there that I never even got to see after a 30+ minute fight. Also caught a pile north of there on the rocks/bridge near the casino. Not nearly as good as going out of Venice but much, much closer. Did you use the Poe's?

sure did. Nick was who took us out. first time to use a guide for anything and I guess I was expecting a more "engaging" type person. He was a good guy and nice enough and would talk when we initiated a conversation and might just not be that type person. He really did try to put us on fish in those crappy conditions. and of course, he's a ULM'r so . .. . might have a complex with me, my wife and son with tech gear on

Ross, save me a little time in searching for your catfish bait concoction using kool-aid and wieners. What is it again?

Cherry kool aid, garlic salt or salt and or chopped garlic, hot dog chunks packed in waterl. let it steep for a week or so in a plastic jar in the fridge. Caught some very nice cats on yoyos Sunday night on CLaiborne. Also caught some largemouth bass, striped bass, and a few white bass Sunday afternoon. Topwaters on the largemouths...it was fun!
