What would it take for simoneaux to keep his job?

After a 5-10 start to the season nearly a 3rd of the season has come and gone. Another bad start to the season for simoneaux. Is there anything he could to do to earn an extension? When do ya'll think it started going down hill for him? We had a a pretty good team a couple of years ago.

If his contract is not expiring then nothing will be done till then as is the case with TSpoon. Otherwise, he would need to demonstrate something he has NEVER done at Tech and win (60% of games). Simoneaux has had ample time to build something........anything and he has not. I think if he is at the end of his contract this year he is gone and I hope we hire Mike Jeffcoat (former Tech player) from Texas Wesleyan.

To honestly answer your question, I would advocate only a conference championship or 30+ win regular season along with a deep conference tournament run would convince me to let him keep his job.

The same or lower university budget from last year regardless of his record.
It's time to close the doors to the Temple of Janus.

    Budget, scholarship situation, recruiting, coaching

I think it would be tough for anyone to win on a consistent basis is Ruston....heck, even big money schools have the partial scholarship problems.

If we host a regional, he can keep his job.

I have a better chance of being the next president of the USA that us hosting a regional.

The problem is bigger than WS.

Why is Tech such a tough place to win?

Tech is a tough place to win in any sport. I've accepted it. A million dollar dream on a minimum wage budget.

Yeah, that seems to be our battle cry.

    MBB disproves that theory.
Football has proven potential if managed properly.

As you know, Baseball has a rich history at Tech. I know we are not budgeted as high as our conference mates. It's an old excuse. We haven't had real coaching in 10 years.

MBB definitely does not disprove that theory. When is the last time we went to the NCAA's?
And going to a bowl every 8-10 years in football doesn't disprove it either. Tech is a tough place to win. Not just Tech though, nearly every small university has this problem.

    "Small" like USM?

We had the football thing figured out, but D.R. took one last swipe before he left.

MBB has been successful. We have won our conference two years in a row with young players. Don't be obtuse.:icon_wink:

Smaller in state schools are successful in baseball with less money.

"Warm weather" schools have a HUGE budget, scholarship, recruiting, coaching, etc. advantage in college baseball and Tech should exploit this.
