    UConn starving it's athletes

This is why the players need a union! Poor kid goes to bed starving sometimes.

So, these kids don't have a "meal ticket" like the rest of us did? I doubt that.

If you're going to go to college........this is what parents and jobs are for. Yes, I'm perfectly aware that NCAA athletes are prohibited from holding jobs. But there are good reasons for that. This "student" CHOSE to be an NCAA athlete. And he has been rewarded handsomely with a full ride scholarship. So, if he can't make it work, he many need to quit basketball, or just quit college and go to work....so he can EAT!! It happens all the time in the "real world".

Let's remember one thing: These kids are playing basketball (or football, etc...) because they WANT to. Nobody's forcing them to pursue their dreams and accept a full ride scholarship to a major university. An athlete can always QUIT his sport and pursue a full time job......just like the rest of us. He can always go to work full-time, and pay his own way to college too. That doesn't sound so fun now, huh?

Many Americans have to sacrifice in order to go to college. This is nothing new.

I agree...in college I was forced to drink Natural Light if I wanted to eat. If I was ever forced to try and impress a female and bought the good stuff like Budweiser, I would have to go days with eating. The struggle is real.

UConn is building a $24 million dollar facility for them. They are being taken care of very nicely.

    Is this with or without a food court . . . . .. . .

Bless their 24/7 pizza/fried chicken needs. Too bad they didn't have a Cushino's.

BIG STORY - A college kid skips his evening meal to pursue other activities; therefore, he goes to bed hungry.

Wow, I did that a lot when I was a college student. I plead the 5th as to what activity I may have been pursuing.

Wait, I still do that at times.

Anybody want to interview me? I've got over 50 years experience of sometimes going to bed hungry.

Every few years or so the NCAA should just cancel all football and basketball games for a season just to keep ESPN and these starving STUDENTS on their toes.

Obviously starving the athletes worked out for UConn. Maybe that is a good strategy to adopt.
