What's happening over there these days?
Nothing. No one will pay for a full band because no one will show up to see one either. So nothing.
Whiskey Myers is coming soon, I think.
wish Sundown would bring A-Train back one more time.
My years at Tech were a great time to be a fan of live music. Howard Shaft, Juba Moon, Shoeless (Christian band), HSO (not a Christian band), and others all called Ruston home.
And on a given weekend, Ezra or DashRip or the Mouth might be in S'port or Monroe. Good times ... Am I dating myself here?
I thought it was normal to have local bands all around. It was a college town we were living in, after all. Sad to hear that today's students are missing that part of the experience.
Lived here 30 years and never really thought Ruston had a "music scene". Surprised the thread has more than 3 posts.
Marc Broussard is coming to play at the Dixie Theater for the Boys and Girls Club's Jazzland on May 9. If you like swamp pop and soul, and you don't know Marc Broussard or haven't seen him live, I'd suggest you buy a ticket to this one. Great artist. Tickets can be purchased at www.bgcncl.org.

I think Hydrovibe is still kicking around out in L.A. They started in Ruston
No Stoneybridge mentions?
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
I guess I should clarify. My dad talked about bands coming to Ruston all the time in the 60's- 80's. growing up here in the 80's and 90's I guess I didn't see much. Probably just the fact that I lived under a rock for most of my high school and college days. Played ball and worked mostly. Missed out on all those names you guys have mentioned.
