    Sterling

This could just have easily gone into the politics forum, but decided to post it here.

The owner of the Clippers might have made (it is still being investigated) some very stupid and racist remarks. While I believe that few, if any, would agree with him if he did make them, would it be fair for the NBA to punish him if they are indeed found to be legit? If so, why?

    1. Should Donald Sterling be punished for saying something in private which was recorded (probably without his knowledge) and leaked to the public?
    2. Will any action be taken against the individual who recorded Donald Sterling and released that conversation to be public? This is assuming Donald did not consent to the recording.
    3. Is it a punishable offense by the NBA for an owner to be a racist and bigoted jerk?
I think the most apt punishment for Donald Sterling (assuming the voice on the recording really is Sterling's) should be determined by the free market. If people are offended by Sterling's racist and bigoted remarks, then they can stop buying tickets to the games, attending the games, watching the games on TV, or buying team merchandise. Players can punish Sterling by taking their talents to another team when they become free agents.

If an unapproved recording discussed a matter of national security it would likely be considered illegal to use and would be ignored.

If the recording includes racial discussion about blacks the legality does not matter and is a nice diversion from all the illegal things our President and his AG force on us.

    1. No, but he probably will be.
    2. No
    3. Yes (at least according to the NBA), even if what you did/said was in private and not public. The NBA, as with all of the pro sports, are PC to the max and anybody who runs afoul of the party line will be punished...severely.

Word is the girlfriend is the target of a $1.8M lawsuit of the Sterling family for embezzlement and she allegedly vowed to get even.

No he shouldn't be punished but he probably will. I agree with, "Let the free market do it's bidding". And yes this is a "diversion from all the illegal things our President and his AG force on us".

His being officially punished by the NBA would be as inane as his mistress being sued for embezzlement for accepting the Ferrari, Range Rover, 2 Bentleys, and $1+ million apartment he gave her. As absolutely despicable as his words are, I can't see punishing someone for an attitude where there is no action. (at least no action in this matter--he has a history of being investigated and settling out of court for racial discrimination).

Top news stories today: Malaysian flight 370, Connecticut teen killed prior to prom, Pope Francis canonizes two...three stories that also have nothing to do with the President or the Attorney General.

Ironically, he is being awarded a lifetime achievement award from the Los Angeles NAACP next month at their 100th anniversary celebration.

And because he's a democrap he won't catch as much grief as he would have otherwise. The hypocrites in the lamestream press and the poverty pimps will mostly give him a pass.....in exchange for some donations.

Can I get an Amen! for the Cadillac!?

If he is a Democrat, it's interesting that you don't see the party leader's denouncement as "much grief."

You're wrong. CNN is giving it "wall to wall" coverage and playing the tapes. I don't know what Faux news is doing.

Fox has 3 stories and a video on their front page. MSNBC has this as 2 of their top 3 stories. EVERYBODY is covering this.

I don't see how you can punish someone for their opinion, but the NBA will find a way.

In most states, only one person has to know that a voice recording is taking place.
