    Tech's In Town-Baton Rouge

I just returned from the Baton Rouge Tech's in Town dinner. We had a fantastic turnout, by far the best we've ever had in Baton Rouge. They had to bring in extra tables and chairs for the overflow crowd. I'm very impressed with Dr. Guice's vision for Tech.

Joe Sloan talked football and the BR area recruits. Really nice guy and stayed after to talk. Tommy Mc talked about the state of the programs. Said the most important thing is to be there. Reddawg and wife were given a BB signed by White and Summit for their support of Tech in BR. Coach Mize and Minnie were given a medallion by Guice. Good turnout. Need to spread the word next year. Several young Tech grads I saw were unaware of it. Good turn out, good time.

Guice is a great speaker. It's hard not to want to buy what he's selling. Our university is in great hands.

I thought Tommy Mc did a good job of giving the state of the union of our athletic programs. He confirmed that alcohol would be available in the new club level seating. He is also very, very high on Tyler Summitt.

Sloan did an ok job. We didn't get much inside info about the team or the upcoming season. It felt more like a speech appropriate for a pep rally. I wasn't able to attend last year, but the year before Dykes was a little more forthcoming about progress being made at practice and expectations for the upcoming season.

In conversations afterward, Sloan was more candid when asked directly about the offensive line and other details.

Dykes had a bit more to be candid about heading into that season. This coaching staff is out doing damage control before the season starts.
