Seems Tabby's recent dust-up with their Prez and AD made her face the truth. Bruno sounds like he's ready to throw in the towel:

As much as I hate ULM, ULL is giving them a strong run for their money. ULM is pretty terrible but ULL far exceeds it in pure trashiness.
...still talking about the supposed $450K largest ever donation by a Tech guy.
Edit: Former Tech guy.

Yeah, it was a shocker that there was NO comparison to Tech at all. Frankly, it was a breath of fresh air for me as a Tech fan...
I wonder why they won't consider returning to FCS? I hear arguments about money being better in FBS...but their revenue is $11 million. Could it REALLY be that much worse if they were competing with Northwestern, SLU, Nicholls, et. al.? They could still play the occasional money games, heck lots of FCS schools will play a Michigan or Florida and occasionally win.
There is seriously no shame in playing FCS ball. Does anyone really disrespect Northwestern or McNeese? No.
The only problem is that once you have moved up to FBS, the move down is perceived as a failure. Northwestern and McNeese never moved up and so there is no disrespect. NLUULM would be perceived as not having been able to make it at the FBS level and comments on this board would echo that reality. That is the difference.
I don't believe it is perception. If they move down the income goes down considerably for money games compared to what they get as an FBS team. Keep in mind, like most small FBS schools, their football team supports the entire athletic program. They would not save enough money by going down to justify the move.
I wonder if they paid off their first field turf?
They are in a bad way in academics, too. In speaking with some of their folks, I hear desperation, fear, even panic. Their morale is low, low, low. I've been told that in some departments and colleges at ULM anyone who doesn't have ties to Monroe is doing their best to leave. They are losing some real talent.
Although Tech academics are yearning for better times, the morale is not anything like that at ULM.
And looks like they're kicking down the road again...

I think this is regarding ULM's athletic facility improvements (scoreboards @ football, baseball stadiums, softball field, and soccer field; chairback seating at Malone Stadium; dugouts at the softball and soccer fields; and 2 electronic display boards).
According to the ULM Facilities audit with the Louisiana Legislative Auditor, there is a $2 million loan with Regions Bank which was entered into on March 18, 2011 for athletic scoreboards and facility improvements. The payments are $50,000/quarter (plus accrued interest) with a final payment of $1.05 million (plus accrued interest) due on March 11, 2016. The outstanding balance was $1.55 million as of June 30, 2013, so the loan balance is probably around $1.35 million right now.

Someone give em a call and tell them if they move back to FCS we will agree to play them again...
