Go Teejay!
USA !
My narcolepsy just can't get a break these days.
Just three more months till Buzkashi season! Time to toss the ole goat around. I think the US really has a shot of making a statement this year.
If you watch the Tour, on NBCSN, they always show shots from the 'copter of historic buildings, old castles, etc and give a brief history of them. Just an interesting tidbit to add to your viewing pleasure.
Well....yesterday the current prez of France was in a town that the Tour was passing thru and also happened to be "celebrating" a historical event. Now, get this. On July 10, 1914 (100 years ago for you math-challenged folks) at the beginning of WWI, invading German troops marched thru this part of France. And apparently, the "defending" French army hid in a forest to escape being destroyed. There is a monument in that town marking the date and "celebrating" this military accomplishment of hiding.
Now....you can't get more French than that.
Found this clip tonight. Some old-style broadcasting on CBS Sports coverage of the 1986 TdF first day.
1986. Americans Greg LeMond and skater Eric Heiden. Vintage broadcast tapes when the TdF was shown on Sundays highlighting the week. More features. More storyline. Not only did John Tesh write his commentary, but he wrote the background music. How many broadcasters can do that on an assignment? Editing each week much have been a beeyotch.
