It would seem to me that some of the Gospel of St. Thomas pre-dates the Gospel of Like, John, etc. Out of all of the Disciples, it appears that Thomas was most likely to be able to read and write. Furthermore, you base your conclusions on the assumption that the 4 canonical gospels (which really are just one) are more accurate than the Jesus sayings in Thomas' gospel.
