I'm not sure why you are asking an either/or question. Both are unacceptable. The difference is that we don't tell anybody that we are Louisiana Technical University, but our SID/communications department tells the world that we are "El ay" Tech in every tweet, press release, etc.

I graduated from Louisiana Tech. I watch Louisiana Tech participate in sporting events. When I ask my son what he wants to do on Saturdays in the fall he says,"go watch TECH!"

Not sure what else there is to say.

Point of information... The LATech people on twitter and the @WeAreLATech/WeAreLATech.com website people use LATech to refer to the technology start-up community in Los Angeles, not that LATTC school.

Back on topic...I went to Trejos on Youree Drive for dinner last night and our waiter was a sophomore at Byrd high school. He struck up a conversation with my daughter who was wearing a Captain Shreve t-shirt. They got to talking about college choices and the waiter mentioned that L. A. was his first choice as wanted to study engineering.
You read that correctly. He referred to us as (El Aye) no Tech, nothing else, just L. A.
