What I REALISTICLY hope to see tonight vs OU

#1: No injuries. This is the Captain Obvious answer.

#2: FBS quarterback play. Not lighting the woods on fire. Not Drew Brees. Just a QB that looks like a FBS QB.

#3: Improved OL play. No more matadors. Not 7-8 false starts. Better in pass pro. I don't realisticly expect them to dominate OU, just show up and play as a unit.

#4: Tackling. No going for the highlight hits only to whiff and let the guy get another 15 yards. Wrap up.

#5: Limit the big play on defense.

    #6: Creativity on offense!!

#7: I'd like to think somehow we could generate pressure on the QB. We didn't do that well at all in 2013

    Anything within 3 TDs.

    I'd be tickled with 20-40.

Good list Sicem. I think number 6 would be a big pleasant surprise.

I agree. I want them to give me a reason to drive to Lafayette next week.

I would add PROTECT THE BALL! We almost had a good start to last year, but fumbled it away.

I'm with you, but I really don't think we'll win by 20. But we better be able to score more than 30 points per game this year if we hope to compete at all.

    Yes, great list.

I agree 967. Beating the spread by a significant margin in this game will be a moral victory.

Having hope going into next week is what I'd like after tonight. No anxiety going into today's game for me. This is the first time since Bicknell I've lacked "the feeling".

    Absolutely!

The turnovers battle is #1 above all else. It is THE biggest knock on Higgins (and 90%+ of young QBs). Hopefully Sokol keeps his composure and doesn't get hurt.
I just don't think that creativity on offense is going to happen with Skip Holtz 100% calling the offense, SicemD. He said he wants to throw the ball to Kenneth Dixon more for goodness sake. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised.

No injuries. Do not play embarrassing football due to lack of creativity on offense. No bad snaps on Special Teams. No fumbles on Special Teams. For me that's it. Cuthbert was a machine after the snap. So were Thomas and Matt. Travis is probably OK snapping the ball. There may be a lttle drop-off after the snap though.

To me its all about offense. Need to see decent OL, decent QB, low TOs, and show some ability to make big plays. If we show those things, we may have a decent year. If we suck at any of the 4, it will be a long year.

Yes, another great indicator of discipline.

Conditioning. Deep into the season when we're trying to get our sixth win and bowl eligible, conditioning will win close games for us.

Re: What I REALISTICLY hope to see tonight vs OU

I think the perception of conditioning relates to depth more than the condition of individual players. The right kind of depth will allow us to have more horsepower, late in game and season. Its too late for that IMHO in a few key areas, mainly DE and linebacker. The time to address that would have been winter '13 and if you couldn't get the players then, go to June. It is extremely rare that you can rely on true frosh to be in the rotation at those positions unless you don't mind getting beat.

A reasonable man would have thought we had receiver covered after the spring, and we still might, so I give em a pass on that. We should also be fine at running back, quarterback, O line and defensive back. Kicking should be fine. As most of you have said, can we generate offense.
