The only "positive" I can see is that we don't have to play Oklahoma again.

    Re: The Positives

What bothered me most last year was the QUITTING. The slumped shoulders, the feet dragging, the grabassing and goofing off on the sidelines ...

I didn't see that in this game. Kudos to whomever is responsible for the noticeable improvement in this team's attitude, effort, and stick-to-itiveness.

That was a team I think I can be proud of this year, the final result notwithstanding.

Cody Sokol passed for nearly 200 yards and 2TDs vs 1 Int @ the #3/4 team in the country.
So WR Trent Taylor had a career-high 68 yards receiving and 1 TD today.

What did y'all think of the multiple offense versus pure spread? I think it gives us more options for plays. I actually saw some rollouts in the 2nd half. I like the extra protection for the QB too.

I agree with what the guys on the radio just said...

Why not get our new RBs some reps and/or touches? I'm still amazed that he left Dixon in the entire game.

Doubt it would have mattered. Dixon couldn't even do anything.

He definitely won't be able to do anything if he gets hurt.

Jared Craft didn't make the trip b/c he had a staph infection from what I read. I don't know why the other freshman (name escapes me atm) didn't get any PT.

I don't like the multiple offense looks personally (going back under center and running the I formation), but I can live with them at certain times however not as the main formation of our offense. That being said..... we ran the freaking T Formation on one play and lost 6 yards (if I remember correctly). I haven't seen that formation in college football since Frank Beamer did at VT in the 90's. There is a reason nobody uses it, and there was no way in hell we were going to outman OU's DL and LB's on that play.

The OU radio announcers raised that same thought. My guess is to get the offense group of Sokol, Dixon, and the rest of the 1s more real game experience as a group.

From the game stats, Tech ran the ball 29 times with Dixon getting 16 of those carries and Blake Martin getting 8 carries.

We aren't going to outman any OOC teams this year besides NW St. We'll match everyone remaining except Auburn. We have a stable of capable receivers, a couple of running backs that will work wonders when the box isn't stacked, and a QB that can deliver the ball if he feels like he won't be killed in the process! We NEED to go up tempo, fast paced offense to play to our strengths on offense! If we can get ahead early in conference games and force teams away from their run game then we'll be playing to the strength of our defense. We don't have to play as fast as the Dykes offense but playing up tempo would seem to create an advantage for our DAWGS!

    Re: The Positives

By looking at my prediction thread, I guess we did better than I thought we would. The O was a little more creative than I thought they would be. I still don't think it's what we need, but I'm glad to see that we didn't go pure ground & pound. I guess I was most disappointed with our D. We seemed very reactionary as opposed to aggressive. OU could've scored however many they wanted.

We'll see what happens next week. Nothing happened this week to make me change my prediction of 4-5 wins. I wasn't overly impressed with Sokol...

First series the snap hits hunter lee in the arm while in motion. It's plays like this that makes losing teams.
