They pumped -
Yep! Our team better be ready to match that energy. They see this as their big shot to beat us.
AHHHH. We are going to Boise and Ole Miss in the next two weeks and you think a 4-8 team that just got pummeled by 30+ is our SuperBowl?
We get way more pumped to play your Southern Arkansas brethren down the road at ULMost.
And I can see this post being edited/deleted in 3.2.1....

Yeah, maybe if we were double-digit favorites the game might be bigger in their minds. Boise and Ole Miss are their biggest games this year. To most of our fans, this is OUR Superbowl.
Now there is a coherent thought. Of course the game means a lot to us. In state school, etc, but they are ALL important to us. Many feel we can go through the season with one loss and we cant let it be Tech or ULM or SAL or any of the teams we are "supposed" to beat. Seriously though. Safe driving to yall
We had a poll and about 80% of our fans would rather beat ULL than the conference game next week.
All that doesn't matter though. A lot of these players know each other and both teams are going to be fired up for this one.
you obviously do not understand the importance of this game. We have beat both Boise and Ole Miss ( last time we played we dominated). Since 1985 Southwestern has not beat tech without Jake. Our average win has been embarassingly his 73-3 . we are 14-4 since 85 and this game means more to real fan that Boise and Ole Miss. You are on roll--you will lose coach this year to 15 mil contract as we have in past ( twice) if you have good year. We are rebuilding and you are losing your "jake D" this yr. You show remarkable misunderstandin of this games importance to bot teams. We got 3 of top 50 La Recruits this year--all had ULL offers. This will elevate your program in recruiting arena. You still have program 48% winning percentage --we at 57% with back to back Alabama wins. Realy, we found out it means a lot to us to beat Ole Miss-Alabama etc but for recruiting state of Lousiana, which is about short term future of program, winner of this game has a lot to brag about. congrats on 3 straight New Orleans bowl wins, congrats on getting fans back but when the season is over-- you will be SICK if you lose to us, or if its close. you will be disappointed to lose to other two but not Sick
If its not a big game then why are there so many threads on the ragpage? Starting threads on lsuselesses more sports board. Its a big game to you guys, superbowl? No. Im pretty sure your fanbase would be content with wins against boise or ole miss if you lose to us saturday. And threads get deleted when users bash our school or post to simply incite negativity. We have users from many other schools whom tech plays and with whom we get along, because they understand the struggles of being a g5 school and trying to hang with the big boys facilities, recruits, with a fifth or less of the monies. Show respect get respect. And negative rated users cant be OPs this is a rule. Play nice engage in intelligent debate and you will see these two schools have way more in common than many on here or your board will ever admit.
They just don't want to win the Sun Belt and another NO Bowl with a loss to Tech. It would making it even more meaningless.
Might mean a little to recruiting but look at what has happened in the last few years. Bowl games for us that were hugely attended in a fun city, new facilities going up, NFL players that call themselves Cajuns forever, home games with 30k+ in attendance. Players see all of that and know what program is on the up tick and which one is falling behind. No players sitting on the fence are looking at the past 50 years. They are not going to worry about a loss to a state school as the defining point in the recruitment process. Im not even going to get into what the different cities offer. Unless they really, really like Applebys. Oh wait a minute. We have one too. There goes Rustons ace in the hole.
Much better to hang your hat beating a ranked SEC school than a possible bottom feeder in CUSA
Dont kid yourself on the importance of this game for either program. Fans maybe but not the program
Wait? Ruston has an Applebee's? Will have to hit it up next time I traverse South Arkansas.
Seriously though, looking forward to this weeks game. Doesn't look like it's going to be your year though.
Things have changed slightly since you guys last came down.
You are correct, in terms of in-state recruiting, this game is important. If La tech loses, the Cajuns would have beaten every D1 FBS school in Louisiana besides LSU A&M in a three year span. As in terms of the Cajun's goals this season, the La tech game is no different than any Sun Belt match up. The expectations are to beat every team on the schedule besides Boise St and Ole Miss. There is no doubt that HUD is considered one hottest rising head coaches. He has been offered higher paying jobs in the past to only turn them down. Eventually he will be offered a job he can't refuse but the $1.5MM buyout clause will go a long way in hiring a new HC.
