LSU Shreveport news since the last update on the Commitment Plan in October 2015:
  • Despite promising to introduce new academic programs and programs of study in engineering at LSU Shreveport, no new degree programs have been introduced at LSU Shreveport since the Ed.D in Leadership Studies program was approved by the Louisiana Board of Regents in January 2014.
  • The undergraduate enrollment at LSU Shreveport in Fall 2015 (2,819 students including dual enrollment) is now the second lowest for 4-year public colleges and universities in the State of Louisiana. The only 4-year public university with fewer undergraduates than LSU Shreveport is SUNO.
  • The plans to recruit more local students and transfer students from BPCC and SUSLA in 2015 failed. The university is now attempting to recruit more students from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas as well as pushing for international students to attend LSUS.
  • The lack of raises for LSU Shreveport faculty and staff (despite the fact that LSU gave two raises to its employees in Baton Rouge since 2013) is continuing to harm LSUS.
  • The LSU Shreveport Honors Program is now currently inactive.
  • The LSU Board of Supervisors have still scheduled no more meetings in Shreveport after they met in Shreveport on January 30th, 2015 to discuss what they’ve done with the LSU Shreveport Commitment Plan.
  • Larry Clark raised issues on whether or not Academic Partnerships would still be the university’s partner on the online graduate programs with the contract expires after January 2017.
