The question of suspension will come down to whether his actions were intentional or accidental. He should not be suspended if his stepping on the opponents is determined to be accidental. There should be consequences if intent can be determined.
It seems as though LSU ignored him in the recruiting process. That fact plus the fact that he did this twice to LSU players is sufficient evidence, to me, to establish intent. As in basketball, a one game suspension should be imposed for hitting an opponent.
Dillon Day has been given a one game suspension by the SEC.

Here's a play that Dillon Day was actually flagged for...

I don't have a problem with it. Dirty players have been getting punished for decades, but it's usually by coaches instead of conferences. In my experience, coaches are less tolerant of dirty play than anyone else because they need a high level of accountability on their teams. In this case, the opposing team sent a copy of the tape to the conference and they handed down a penalty. I don't think that diminishes the game.
He should be commended for not piling on or spearing. I say it was a good clean accidental-looking stomp of an lsu player. No action required.
