Both a result of no coaching.

Why are we discussing NSU on the UTEP thread instead of one of the NSU threads? Move on folks. It's time to blow up the Miners on Saturday!

    Go Dawgs!!!

Needless to say, I expect a sea of red and a competitive game that hopefully swings our way and moves us to 2-0 in conference!
    K-State was up 52-7 after 3rd quarter.

Because somebody got offended when I suggested anything other than a blowout by us would reflect on our coaching.

Great point, Dwayne. We gotta quit losing games AT HOME.

Oh sure........its the FANS' fault that we've lost 4 of the last 5 games at home.

Fact is that I do not expect a blow out win by either team. We can and SHOULD be able to beat them, but I predict this is going to be a nail biter till the end. A game people will enjoy, if they show up.

Because we have the same coaches that effed up the NSU game back for the UTEP game. So, the same concerns remain, as does the same question: will the team be ready to play?

This is a HOME conference game. If we have any ambition of winning the conference this year, this is the kind of game the team has to be at its best...and be prepared to play. Can anyone say with certainty the Dawgs will be ready? I hope they will be. You hope they will be. But....will they? Given Skippy's track record, especially at home, you can't say the team will actually be prepared.

    Go Dawgs!

For some reason, I think our coaches and team will be ready. I think Holtz values conference games above all others.

I am worried that the home loss to NSU will cause conservative play calling trying not to lose again. When HCSH turtles up, Dixon gets a beating and so do we.

    Go Dawgs!
This is my only evidence from the press conference yesterday:

Skip Holtz: "We have a challenge this week with UTEP. It was a close football game a year ago. It is a conference game which throws up a red flag. We know the challenge we are going to have against UTEP who runs the ball very well. Their staff is like ours in their second year. They are very much improved from a year ago. Offensively they are rushing for over 250 yards per game. They are 21st in the country in rush offense. They are 2-2 only losing to Texas Tech and Kansas State. Texas Tech had to score late to make it 30-26. They have shown great strides and improvements. They are plus six on the turnover ratio. In four games they only have one turnover. They do not have any interceptions. They run the ball and are very patient. They have scored on 16 of 17 red zone opportunities. They have a very talented tailback. He may be one of the most productive tailbacks we have faced to this point. Right now he is seventh in the country in rushing. He is rushing for 150 yards per game through four games. They are third in the country in time of possession. We know they have a very efficient quarterback. We watched him throw a couple deep balls against us last year. I think it is going to be a real test for our defense."
"On defense, they have seven returning starters. They have 14 back on defense that played against us. Their most experience is in the secondary. They are a very aggressive defensive football team. They do a lot of blitzing and apply a lot of pressure. They put a lot of people on the line of scrimmage to cause confusion. They get off the bus and start blitzing. They are a very aggressive defensive football team with what they do."
"Their kickoff return is nationally ranked. Their punt returner was third in the American Conference last year. He is a transfer from Houston. This is his first year there. Their punter is 6'6 210 and averages 46 yards per punt. They are a good football team. It is going to be a challenge which is why I am excited about the opportunity to play them at home. The biggest thing for me as a head coach is to make sure we have learned some lessons through our first five football games that have made us a better football team."

Hunter Lee: "As Coach Holtz was just saying with the 1-0 mentality, each day we need to come out and win it in practice, with every play and then in the game. It is all or nothing right now. That is the mentality."

Houston Bates: "It is a conference game. These are the ones that count. Our coaches stress that and the players stress that. We know what is at stake when going into a conference game. I think during the North Texas game, even though we were not in our full conference schedule, guys knew the stakes and we came to play. We need to do the same this week."

Houston Bates: "I think the most important thing is coach Diaz had us amazingly prepared (for Auburn). We have never felt more prepared going into a game thus far. I think going into that game everyone knew their assignment. Everyone knew what they had to do. Everyone knew what they were going to do before they did it."

So they know all about UTEP's strengths and how they like to play the game. They know UTEP is improved and we barely beat them last year. They know UTEP doesn't make mistakes. They say they know the importance of it being a conference game and they are taking practice and the game important. And we know they believe they were amazingly prepared last week. Can you say with certainty they will not be ready or prepared?

    Re: UTEP Game

•“He (Dixon) did not practice last night. Paul Turner did not practice last night either," LA Tech coach Skip Holtz said Monday. "If anyone has bumps and bruises, we put them off to the side. We have a long day today. They will get 3 or 4 treatments. We will get a much better idea of where we are on Tuesday when we get out on the practice field. Kenneth has a strained ligament in his foot.”
