Why I still hold a grudge against UTEP is they used to take that damn pick axe of theirs and slam it into the ground at JAS! They even did it that time they played Tulane in Ruston. I was hoping they would hit a water line or something.(We still had a grass field back then.)

I do. UTEP has only beaten LA Tech one time since 1939, and dammed if it wasn't in the year 2004, the same year that we were both vying for a final spot in CUSA. They won, we lost, and the rest is history.

UTEP...used to love to give them (and Hawaii) hell when their bench was right in front of the student section.

I was there because my son was picked to try and kick a field goal at halftime! He was one of only a handful of kids in the whole stands. He was about 13 at the time and missed it wide left!!! Wasn't much to cheer about that day- except that we did win..... wasn't many people to see it though!

I had season tickets that year but my old timer's disease is kicking in. I really don't remember, but probably was with my brother who lived just down the road near Stonewall.

The decision by C-USA to add UTEP was announced on April 30, 2004. The loss that October played no part in the decision, but losing sure didn't make me feel any better about it.
