The biggest hurdle is they always wanted to have Houston or Dallas be one group. It doesn't work like that in big cities especially ones as spread out as those two. There needs to be several chapters in the DFW area or the greater Houston area and they can come together on certain projects and events.

You could easily have Dallas, North Dallas, and Fort Worth. You could have a 3-4 in Houston as well.
Why not? I don't think their's a legitimate answer to why we don't have Alumni chapters.

I could easily see us having Alumni Chapters in NOLA, BR, Acadiana (Lafayette-Morgan City), Lake Charles, Houston, and Dallas if they had some support/guidance from the Alumni Association.
They tried a chapter in LC and after two meetings it folded.

Because the alumni association staff is small and it falls on 1 or 2 people in the area to do all the work.

As GermDawg would say........WHY? Its not as if LTAC hasn't made enough money over the years to justify a larger staff.

Ok, hire more staff, Alumni Director should put together a Long Range Plan (# of alumni assoc. memberships (first time and total), # of activities/functions in areas, charitable goals, etc) with goals and the staffing levels/support needed to achieve them. Get support from the Foundation in paying salaries, in the short term, then as alumni association grows move over to supporting itself.

These mindsets of that's how its always been done is exactly what bogged down Tech athletics for so long.

The alumni association is separate from LTAC, and the University basically funds the alumni association. So much for having a "voice for the alumni".

I hope everyone is a dues paying member but that does not come close to footing the bill. It's easy to say "hire more staff" and "get more from the foundation". It doesn't happen.

I guess the university's new hire for the Metroplex is chopped liver?
After he gets his recruiting feet on the ground, maybe he can network via alumni.
His (and our) future in the DFW area is so full of potential.

WHY? A root cause exists for why our Alumni Association is barely functional and hiding behind it's easy to say is cowardly and lazy.

I knew somebody would say that.......as if that's a reasonable excuse. It's not. LTAC and the alumni assn are heavily intertwined. They even share the same office space. i specifically mentioned LTAC, because it's much more successful than the Alumni House in making it rain around Ruston. The Alumni Assn is a waste. It's terribly run.

I'm gonna punch people if they try to bring the goalposts down. I may even load up on pepper spray. Bringing the post down is a waste of money.

Gonna be a long time before we have games worthy of doing that in Ruston.

Oh good God. You sound like a Ruston cop.

Does everything have to be about money with you people? I hope we have a very good reason to tear a goalpost down. And if we do, well put up another one.
