2014-15 Bowl Chatter and Predictions

Projections are all over the place for which Bowl Tech will play in. Of course step # 1 is becoming bowl eligible.Marshall is bowl eligible and MTSU will probably be soon.

College Sports Madness has Tech vs Colorado State in the New Mexico Bowl, and ULM vs Rice in the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Say what?!?!?!?!?

Which bowl do you think Tech will play in? Of the C-USA options, I like the Heart of Dallas Bowl the best.

At some point, start playing UNT/Rice/UTEP/UTSA yearly during the Texas State Fair. Oklahoma does this, giving up a home game every other year, and they have reaped HUGE recruiting benefits.

I certainly agree that the players and coaches need to just focus on the next game at hand, but I think it is okay for the fans to dream about what can be. I'll be as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof until we have at least 7 wins. I'm not taking anything for granted. As we have seen from watching the Top 25 this year, no one is immune from getting spanked at any given time. Know what I mean Baylor, LSU, Texas A&M? And the list goes on.

OU does not just "give up a home game every other year" for recruiting benefits. They and Texas each get a $500,000 game guarantee plus they split the tickets sales 50-50. That is a $4M+ payday for each school.

The Heart of Dallas Bowl could try the Heart of Dallas Classic again, this time with Louisiana Tech and North Texas.

I don't know if we played in the HoD Classic every year we would still be attractive to the HoD Bowl. Just a thought.

I don't like bowl projections, but I'll comment anyway.

If we don't win the C-USA Championship and 2 of Florida/Tennessee/Arkansas don't miraculously become bowl eligible, I'd say it's a 98% probability that we get placed against an ACC team in Shreveport (assuming we are bowl eligible). If our guys would rather play a Big Ten team in Dallas, then they better win the C-USA Championship.

Either way, that particular time slot at 2:30pm on ABC will reach many more than whenever Heart of Dallas is on.
