The folks we are trying to groom into fans know just enough about Tech Athletics and college sports in general to be dangerous. Not stupid, but ignorant. I think it is just as ignorant for some of our fans to think the loss did not cost us attendance last week and will not cost us attendance at HC.
Also, as others have pointed out, the loss will certainly cost us any shot at being ranked late in the year. 10-2 would have been plenty to get us there.
If you want to increase attendance, schedule ULM, Grambling/NW State every year. We will win 9 out of 10 times. If that 1 loss hurts us then we are surrounded by fools.
Your ULM theory only works early in the year and requires a trip to Monroe. Not worth the risk.
Grambling? Proven wrong.
NSU? A few there from NSU and for "the rivalry" (talk about ignorant!), but most of the crowd was there because they were excited about what they had seen vs. LaLaff and UNT.
Locals think Tech are elitists for not playing ULM. They thought it was funny that NW State beat us. They don't respect Tech. We turned down a bowl game to avoid ULM (in their mind). Play ULM and earn respect of the locals. Be a part of the community again. Play Grambling and NW State to re-establish the flagship of North Louisiana. Right now, it's NW State (in their mind).
Total fluke. Get over it. You miss a number or decimal, in your field of accounting, you fix it and move on. In my field,
you drill a dry hole (didn't drill many of those ) ... you figure out what went wrong and move on. You don't close the deal to sell some insurance, like MD, because you said something you shouldn't have and you "move on' to the next potential client. Same with the simple game of college football played by 18 - 22 year old kids. MOVE ON!

Great example: A few Tech Grads I know were finally excited about us having a real defense. They were talking Tech up while they turned their nose up at the Dykes teams a few years ago. I could see things turning in or favor for getting these folks interested...then we lose to NSU. Nothing since from those guys.
But when there is a very limited potential "client" base you cannot afford a major snafu without paying the price -
And as we are seeing by through the gate attendance - we are paying the price (and yes some of that was the 11:00 kick)

They say "If You build it they will come"!
A good road win over Southern Miss. this weekend and a respectable crowd at home-coming
where we put on an awesome show for the fans and they all leave happy campers, then the
excitement should get some butt's in the seats for the season ending stretch!
JFW!
That's the only game I feel that the 11:00 am time will not be too detrimental to our attendance
That's just historically a bad attendance day for us regardless the time of the game 6:00 pm or 3:00 pm
Best case is we win out and Rice wins out and we can hype up the game for the West championship
