The guy who runs Learfield at Tech does not check his "network stations" to make sure they flip the switch. When asked about it, he responds that it is impossible to enforce with all (4) stations. This flys in the face of fans who pay to listen not knowing they could get it for free if they just looked around a little. No accountability. Our admin continues to ignore the problems with media outlets.
In addition to the premium all-access feed they [UTEP, USM, WKU] have a free streaming station on TuneIn that plays the exact same broadcast. If you search Conference USA on TuneIn 7 schools have stations on there with free football broadcasts. So if UTEP is a premium feed on all-access how can it be free on TuneIn? And why can't Tech do the same?
Thank's I'll look up that station this Saturday.
Tech sold its media rights to the La Tech Foundation for about $200,000 per year. The La Tech Foundation resold those to Learfield for some $650,000 per year and the video board is paid for out of that fund. Learfield controls the sale of all advertizing, radio, all access, tv, video board etc and receives all of the revenue from which they pay their annual contract amount with any funds left over being their profit. Briefly, Tech contracted out its athletic program to Learfield for $650k and thats about it.
Recommend you not count on that. This station is slipshod by the hour. Some Saturdays they have the pregame, some not, one time or another the stream may be on, maybe not. For that matter, the game may or may not be on. If the game is late (after dark) you need to be in the parking lot closest to their transmitter to hear.{I live relatively close and get nothing}
