Interesting, although it leans heavily that the B12 would take only AAC members, could be the final death knell of the AAC/Big East after they got kicked out of the P5.

Let's play the what-if game.
Assuming that the Big 12 expands to (gasp!) 12 teams, and they do not take BYU, then both teams probably come from the AAC. The commenter who said that Nebraska would be in the mix must be smoking crack. They just left the Big 12 for the Big 10, and I can't see them going back.
The big question is, what does that do to the other teams in the AAC? Do they simply add two more teams and keep going (likely)? Or does that signal the end of the AAC (not likely)? I say the first option is likely because any team in the current configuration of CUSA would quickly accept an invitation to the AAC, meaning that they keep going.
Who would be the AAC teams asked to join the Big 12, and who would be the two teams asked to replace them in the AAC?
So, as the rumor goes, the Big 12 would add four new members -- Cincinnati, East Carolina, UCF and South Florida. That would ease WVU's travel burden, as well as give the Big 12 a presence in Florida for recruiting purposes.I am counting 22 teams would be in Mega-C-USA - Navy & Charlotte come on board next year. What does appear likely in this hypothetical situation is the AAC would merge with Conference USA to form a 20-member league that would be the biggest and best Non-Power conference. It would mean Memphis, Houston, Tulsa, SMU and Tulane having to swallow hard and return to C-USA along with UConn coming in.
If Navy Doesn't come in - I'd say have 3 divisions with highest 2 ranked (CFP poll or whatever) division winners play for championship (not fair, but not sure any other way to do it)
If navy stays - 2 11 team divisions??? 2-5 team divisions & 2- 6 team divisions?

Chuck Landon is full of crap. He's tried to stir up realignment crap before, and he's done it again. He doesn't have any knowledge of anything. He just knows what gets his articles hits.

Have 9 game conference schedule: 4 home, 4 away, 1 TBD
3 OOC games
9th game would be against Cross-Divisional opponent with same rank (some rematches could occur & possibly have teams switch opponents) - the winners of the 2 semifinal games (1v1) would play for championship at pre-determined site.
Home/Road games would be determined by CF Playoff Rankings or the like. System would be set up that schools would get 5 home games every other year (unless they were in top of division & had to play at higher ranked).
All teams would have a bye the Saturday after Thanksgiving - 9th conference game would be determined after games are played Saturday before Thanksgiving.
I know this post has a lot of ramblings (similar to a DS65 post) - but I'm thinking and writing at same time - not a good idea.
Here's what Big XII needs to add!
Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Cincinnati & East Carolina (or Southern Mississippi - they're in good recruiting area).
I love how the people are confused as to why add UCF & USF. They don't understand the whole logic to his hypothetical article - travel partners.
This makes my head hurt, and it's only a hypothetical... We just got off the last rollercoaster!
I don' think the AAC would take small market teams as replacements, so I think Marshall, USM and Louisiana Tech would not be considered.
Good old Memorial Gym
I cannot see the Big 12 expanding with the schools listed and not take Houston????? There would be a major explosion on Cullen Ave, if that happened after all the $$$$ they have spent to be 'Next Man Up'!!!!
What is so attractive about the AAC? I'd rather go to the MWC any day.
Cincinnati and Houston would be the big 12 adds. The AAC would take UTSA and Charlotte because of markets. CUSA would take usa and Georgia st. The belt would take anybody in FCS.
