What incentive is there to expand the playoffs? It may be team number 5, team number 9, team 17. It doesn't matter. Someone will feel left out. Expanding the playoff does nothing.
That's the standard talking point against more than 4.
It gives conferences a chance. The Big10 will likely be left out every year. The ACC is very lucky to have Florida State, but one slip up and they are out. Another ACC team is not likey even without a conference championship game. When the SEC does away with its championship game, they will likely have two teams every year. Not fair in the eyes of all the left coast and northern liberals.
The commissioners as it stands right now with the P5 want 8 -
In reality that is all that matters and TV is willing to pay a kingly sum for 4 more teams
That said - I don't see it growing past 8 teams
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
Again you assume that all 5 power conferences survive. This is the crux to the discussion. I've previously stated that I think one dies soon.
Also I don't get where you think anyone will do away with the championship games. The SEC makes plenty of money off theirs. Others will soon serve as the quarter finals that you say are certain.
