When can knockoffs be recovered? Does the receiving team have to down a KO in the end zone or is it live? When can a KO be fair caught? Can the kicking team touch the ball before it hits the ground?

Ball must go 10 yds before recovery by kicking team - receiving team can get at anytime.
I believe the ball is live and must be downed.
Can be fair caught at anytime
Ball must touch the ground before kicking team touches - that's why kickers "bounce" the ball or dribble it on the ground
If a kickoff is untouched and bounces into the end zone, the ball is declared dead by rule.
I thought so because I have seen some people going after it with no haste
Yeah, I thought it is dead in endzone for high school ball, but in college it has to be downed in the endzone.

One last clarification: can the kicking team recover the ball before it touches the ground? I thought the insides kick into the turf was to prevent the fair catch.
Nfl - apparently does not ave to touch ground
A kickoff is illegal unless it travels 10 yards OR is touched by the receiving team. Once the ball is touched by the receiving team or has gone 10 yards, it is a free ball. Receivers may recover and advance. Kicking team may recover but NOT advance UNLESS receiver had possession and lost the ball.
Why does it matter if the receiving team touches it after 10 yds?
