From just watching a TON of CFB every week, and that is more than I should spend time on
, I have noticed more and more stupidity. Players and coaches doing bonehead things that we all knew better when we played Pop Warner at 10 yrs old.
Simple things like, how to catch a football, how to properly carry a football, how to tackle! (that's a biggie) and so on. Yeah, the "athleticism" of today's players is superior to decades ago. Players are faster, bigger, stronger, and as a result the game is more violent. But....that is even MORE reason to focus on fundamentals, not less reason.
Except, on the violence issue, I have to say this, the rules of today attempt to regulate the violence. Not saying it's not needed. I can say with certainty that actions that get a player ejected today, were taught back in the day. The players just weren't as big or as fast, which tended to curtail the violence (ya know it's physics - mass times velocity = OUCH!)
