So, when we win Saturday we get first choice? I can't imagine Dallas would be the choice of Marshall anyway. We left a lot of points on the table Saturday and still got 76. I like our chances Saturday given that they have to be disappointed with losing their perfect season and a chance at a bigger payoff.
we didn't know Armed Forces Bowl would have a slot. That location would not be a bad 2nd choice.
Hi everyone... Marshall fan here... I hope all of you that are coming to the game have a safe trip and enjoy the game.
As for the Bowl scenarios, Marshall is not so much interested in the destination as we are the opponent. No one wants to see us play another MAC team in the Bahamas or Boca Raton. I think if given the choice, MU would select Dallas, in order to play a Big10 opponent and thus get a chance to play a P5 team. Second choice would probably be to work out a deal with the ACC to gain the spot in the Independence Bowl against a 6-6 SEC team.
As always it is a fluid situation... Leagues trade bowl tie-ins all the time if regional games or matchups make more sense. It happened to MU when I was in school there, Marshall at 6-6 ended up playing a MAC team in Detroit at the Little Ceasars Bowl even though CUSA did not have a tie-in there because the matchup made the most sense for traveling fans and thus made the best financial sense.
assume I misunderstood context of this post BUT I do care about every CUSA team in bowl game. I want everyone we beat to win their bowl game, UAB going under is bad publicity ( for those who know CUSA tie in it is) Better CUSA performs in bowls, better for us . I still think I misenterpreted your post
I have always wanted the Heart of Dallas Bowl. It best serves our interest of all the bowls available.
Marshall recruits Florida heavily. The fans might not like it but playing in Dallas would't help them nearly as much as playing in front of the recruits they are vying for. Every time Marshall plays in Florida their recruitng stock goes up. It doesn't matter who they play. They can tell Momma that you get to see your baby play in a bowl game at home every year. That and there is a distinct possibility that Big Ten does not fill this slot. We could possibly play Ohio or Texas St. North Texas played UNLV last year because of the same thing.
