good to see everyone onboard about raises -- I have been posting this for years -- here is other problems #1. when student/atheletes starting getting "full ride" we have new expenses of 5-6k per athlete AND THAT IS NOT JUST FOOTBALL! UAB sited that as one of major issues of dropping football. #2 --do not see Juluke getting the love I thinks he deserves, his recruiting in S la has been impressive. I also think we need to flat out ask Tim what income he would need to stay and tell him straight out that we want him to develop as coach and stay at Tech -- most of these coaches will be moving on eventually, no real ties to Tech but I ould see Tim developing into future Offensive co-ordinator and long time Tech coach-- if what he wants if unreseonable then not much we can do BUT who knows...

I don't want to lose any of the coaches but any increase should be tied to a future year not immediate. If we could sign Diaz to a four year contract with raises each year of 10, then 20, 30, and finally 100k. He will be making 340k in the 4th. This would be an incentive to stay.
when ULM and ULL are working with same budget ( practically ) --you can not expect "separation" -- we are in CUSA , the cost of not making bowl games will kill us in recruiting and moving forward. You have to invest in your PRODUCERS-- TOP people. You want to keep changing staff every couple of years , offer them small increase when they can bail and get 50-100% more money. We will get our share of 5-6 bowl games because of football-- our fan base will grow as we consistenly make bowl games have winning seasons, you do not acomplish that by being at bottom of list in coaching pay --25-30 % increase MINIMUM in football staf pay and increase Incentive payouts for Coach Holtz ( ie, bowl games, conference titles, division titles , coach of year, finishing in top 25 etc. I am tired of coaching carousel, yeah-yeah I know times have changed but we at least have to try and keep as much staff together as possible

If salAries are going to be raised, the revenue they generate must cover the costs. Anyone know if the football will net any revenue? If not you have to raise ticket prices or donations to cover the cost. Realize when ticket prices rise butts in seats will go down. Unless someone donates a boat load of money, I would use a slow raise strategy. Running deficits is what kills college sports.

i agree with you about money, unfortunately the UAB thing could be tip of iceberg --they had almost twice our budget and gave up, was not long ago Tulane was talking about dropping football. Centenary dropped competive basketball few years ago because of cost... we all know a handfull of Tech supporters have bailed us out over last 20 years , god bless them, but money is our biggest issue.

I'll keep this short. My overall recommended increase (in coaching salaries) was $505K. I've already explained that the "price" of body bag games are going up! Way up. So, between that, increased LTAC contributions, an increase in bowl revenue, improved TV revenue and other sources, this amount should be easily obtainable.

If you are asking in reference to the rumors that P5 teams will no longer play outside of the P5, yes, we can assume money games will continue.

Interesting. That's not what the talking heads on radio/TV want. You think NSU has a bad taste in our mouths. Look at how their program was ridiculed after the Playoff Bracket announcement. Our game was the only break they got.

Talking heads have to talk. This is already settled in the minds of the ADs and Presidents. The home revenue that would be lost by the average P5 team is too great for the P5 to jettison the G5.

Not to mention there aren't enough P5 teams to make a 12 game sked work.

Miss St is supposed to be in Ruston. It's doubtful that they ever come back. Ironically it would not be considered a "money game" unless they buy it out.

We have a dedicated special teams coach, Bradford. Special teams coordinators often 'help' coach another position to lighten the load and help on one side of the ball. You don't spend that much time in practice on teams so they'd just be standing around most of the time. Even P5 schools ask their teams guy to coach other positions usually like TEs or inside Wrs. We have as dedicated a special teams coordinator as anyone.
