Thanks, man. One big correction, Mitchell Bell won't be playing in the game as he is one of five starters Tech lost to grades at the end of the quarter system. They did not play in the conference championship game.

Glad you highlighted Fred Dean. Of course, you could have featured Terry Bradshaw or Willie Roaf.

And when you looked back at Illinois' 1990 bowl victory, it might have been a good chance to remember Louisiana Tech's bowl that year, a 34-34 tie with Maryland in the Independence Bowl.

Thanks Tech77! I almost picked that game vs Maryland…Doing these bowl previews just gives me a greater appreciate for a program's history and La Tech has a very storied history. Big fan

Or our 1977 bowl win over Louisville 24-14.

Well done. I hope Houston Bates is "lining up" in the Illini backfield!

I posted this in another thread, but think it fits here as well...

I don't know how many of you may have seen this, but if you have about an hour and want to see a computer simulation of the game (EA Sports - XBOX 360) that was done a few days before the actual game, you can see it at the following link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1Waqs02cao.

I have not played any of the football video games so I don't know how the players are selected for the teams, but you'll probably be scratching your head and having to check the roster on http://www.latechsports.com/sports/m...ootbl-mtt.html to see who some of the players are in the simulation. Some of the players were not really a factor for Tech all year, but played well in the simulated game. And you'll see a few players who weren't able to play in the final two games. And you'll be asking where some other players are since you won't see them in the game. But overall I found it to be entertaining.

Hey Em....your pre-game summary ended up being very accurate. In particular, your pregame focus on the one-on-one battle between Houston Bates and Austin Schmidt looks like pure genius now. As you now know, Bates won the game's Most Valuable Player Award. And you also accurately picked LA Tech to win this game.

Incidentally, your pregame prognostication advising Tech to RUN the ball inside against Illinois was good advice that we just couldn't take. Unfortunately, LA Tech didn't do that enough. The Bulldogs repeatedly tried to run outside instead of inside, and we mostly failed at it. When LA Tech finally inserted backup RB Blake Martin into the game late in the 4th quarter, his first two carries were inside and BOOM!!, TD from 25 yards out.

Congratulations on a very good --and in hindsight-- a very accurate, pre-game writeup.
