If Houston Bates gets drafted by an NFL team in 2015, point to his performance at the Heart of Dallas Bowl this afternoon as the game which put him on the map.

He was amazing today. Can't say enough about him. Every time I looked up he was around the ball. What a game for the guy.
Today Bates looked like an NFL talent to me.
I think Bates has been watching a lot of JJ Watt highlight videos!
Bates was ESPN player of the day. Two plays made top 10, Woods interception rd and Trent's sideline catch. Great coverage for Bates in this morning's Dallas paper too.
Two articles in sports section plus a nice feature in the Metro section, wearing my blue around Dallas again today before heading home. What a time it's been in Dallas.

That's great, Russ! Reading this morning's DMN was the one reason I wanted to stay another night before heading home...but I committed to having Papadawg and Mommadawg (who attended her first Tech football game in YEARS yesterday) back to Spearsville by bedtime yesterday.
Historic tidbit.
With his 4.5 sacks and his 5.5 tackles for a loss, = 10 tackles for losses. Bates is tied for 3rd ALL-TIME in the history of bowl games for that stat. That's all-time! All bowl games ever played! Wow!
You saw history made!
I thought a sack also counted as a tackle for loss.
Not my understanding. Bates was credited with 5.5 tackles for a loss that were NOT the QB. Their RB, or some of those bubble screens we blew up.
CUSA is 4-1 in bowl games this year. Guess it was a better conference than everyone thought.
