How is this a liberal/conservative thing? .
I wish Jindal would ban 11am kickoffs for the Bulldogs... Yuck.
Its stupid. There is a market for 11 am games. I drag my butt out of bed and drive to Ruston for an 11 am game, by gosh they can too.
We got a cabin in Leadville. I feel ya, but these guys hunt in it they can watch football in it too.
I don't hunt and have nothing preventing me from going to the games. I was at all of them(home) this year. I just hate not being able to have a meaningful tailgate. I'm being selfish.
You are absolutly correct. I rarely hunt(Kids), but love night games. My beef here is not the game time, but gross overeach by a government body that will deny a company or body to make money when it can. 11:00 am games are part of the business and the contract that ESPN has signed with the BigTen. For any government body to legislate a breach of that contract because its inconveniant is total BS.
Not selfish at all!! I am right there with you. It takes a ton away from the gameday experience that we have all worked so hard to improve. We had breakfast tailgate food twice at TAG this season........that is ridiculous.
Heck, I frown at the 2:30 kicks.......now I am begging for those!!!!
You would think there would be plenty of eastern time zone home games to choose from for the first televised game of the day.
That might be ideal. However the CST games would only one hour later and wouldn't let them get as many games in one day. They give only 3-31/2 hrs per game as it is. Starting at 11 CST they can have a game then, at 2:00, 5:00 and their west coast game at 9:00. Notice that leaves out everyone's favorite 6:00 start time. Of Course this is just E$PN (and probably ABC). NBC, CBS, Fox, FS etc can start when they want.
I'm sure the Big Ten would allow that as long as Minnesota declines to take its share of Big Ten TV money.
But I agree that having all 4 Big Ten home games start at 11:00 was a bit much.
C-USA should put in a rule to make sure that each school does not have more than one 11:00 AM CT home kickoff. Or at least there should be an inconvenience fee (say $100K) for each conference home game after the first one moved to a noon ET/11:00 AM CT kickoff time with less than 14-day notice.
Quote of the day:
The Guvner then said "If you want to tailgate, you have to be there by 9 a.m.," Dayton said. "Most students I don't think are awake at 9 a.m."

Although I detest 11 AM kickoffs as well, particularly for the effects on attendance and tailgating, I agree that the government has no place in making such decisions.
"Libtard" often is used to demonstrate a superficial and ineloquent approach to, well... everything.
