    Spring Showers

Most rain in less than 24 hours I've ever seen.

    No let up in site.

Serious situation over here in Ouachita Parish.

It's been really bad in Caddo and Bossier Parish as well. My neighbor's rain gauge read 14.5" this morning. I've seen pictures of water up to the roof lines of people's homes in Haughton.

Getting a little relief in West Monroe to the East. Not so much for West Ouachita over to the Texas line. Looks like they will still get hammered for another 3-4 hours...then it MIGHT let up some.

This is indeed a 100 year deal.

Tons of roads are closed and there are mandatory evacuations for 3300 households in Bossier City today due to an expected levee break for Red Chute Bayou. All the schools in Caddo and Bossier are closed tomorrow as well. It is a mess and still raining.

All I 20 traffic eastbound and westbound was funneled into two lanes on Hwy 80 just east of Haughton around 5. Took my son an hour to get two miles on 80 from I20-220 eastbound. TV says 80 at Minden is totally gridlocked.

and only takes 2" of rain in Houston to accomplish the same results. can you imagine if the amount of rain that fell on north la had fallen in H-town?

    Re: Spring Showers

We have actually seen that result in Houston back in 2001 ... Tropical storm Allison dropped near 40 inches of rain on Houston over a number of days. 24"+ seems likely in some isolated spots with this current storm. A similar setup is forecast to setup over South Louisiana as well in the next few days.

    Re: Spring Showers

Lake Claiborne rose over 6' in less than 24 hours catching a lot of lake property owners off guard. Could be highest level ever. Most if not all boat houses damaged with many boats trapped in their lifts and being crushed against the ceilings or in some cases the roofs pushed off. Needless to say many lakeside properties have water in them. Lake full of "trash" and several boats that were not secured. A mess.
