79 77 USM final, they miss 2 gfs but get rebound
How many defensive free throw rebounds did we lose?
UPDATE: Going through the play-by-play I counted 9 times. Of course, that last one was the coffin nail.
we won the rebound battle... but if we can't protect the ball it really doesn't matter.
I should have stayed at the beach!
Techsters now 5-7
USM goes to 8-4
Watched it on All-Access. We were passing the ball (often) to where nobody was standing. These weren't pressure turnovers, they were lazy, sloppy passes. Also, our inside defense was horrible. USM shot layup after layup 1 ft from the basket and couldn't make a lot of those shots.
At this point in the season, that makes me wonder if they used defensive screening to mess up the timing.
Or maybe we were running some new variation on offense. That might also explain why our bench contributed so few points.*
And still (by my math) we would have won it with 75% FT shooting.
[*retraction: Gametracker showed our bench contributed 4 points, but the article says 26 points. Ahhh there it is. Gametracker had Jackson and Wingate listed as starters. Lesson learned--trust the LaTech Official Box Score]
Overall a hard fought game. #10 for us must have had close to 10 turnovers in the game herself. She looked unfocused at times and tried to force too much at others. The officials were horrendous. It's hard to play 8 on the road, much less at home. Poor post defensive position and poor rebounding effort at times were costly. Frazier with great effort on both ends. As a team, we are much improved over the last two years.
A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:
Whitney Frazier scored 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds but Louisiana Tech couldn't overcome 25 turnovers and missed defensive assignments as the Lady Techsters fell 79-77 in overtime to Southern Miss Sunday afternoon at the Thomas Assembly Center.

Lady Techsters played hard, made some errors but held on. would have liked to see more of #3 on the court. looking forward to Thursdays game against UTEP. Keep up the good work.
Frazier is a powerhouse. Every game shows we are getting better. there is a lot to work on. Ready for Thursday against UTEP. Would have liked to see more of #3,maybe if given the opportunity she could do some good. just my opinion. who knows.
A home lossis a bad deal and no way to sugar coat it!
I am almost at the point of just throwing in the towel and giving up on a program that I have followed for some 35 years now!
