Did we have any buyout clause in his contract?
I don't know if that is as common with coordinators as it is with head coaches but it might be something we look at doing. Even if it's only a couple hundred thousand (depending of salary of course), that would be a couple to use on the rest of the coaches or to hire a new one.

At the end of the day we can't pay what they can. So good luck to him except when we face them!!!!

I think we all knew this was coming and that is the reason there isn't more anger. It will be nice when we reach the point of not being raided, but we aren't even close to that yet. I think Holtz has some GREAT contacts, so now will be the time he can use that. He knows what a great defense looks like for sure.

Not shocked at all. He has a much better chance being a head coach as a DC in the SEC than he would at Tech. Oh and more money. Blake Baker is highly respected and his wife loves it here. She is from Mandeville and is about to have their first child. I can imagine they want to stay as close as possible.
