Bleedtechblue.com was the first to report the hire.
When did they report it? Festus quoted Football Scoop at 11:15 this morning. TNS was way late!

The coaching convention is going on this week. I am guessing our DC will meet with Holtz there.
There are definitely some pros to Baker but I am not sure Holtz will hire him to be DC. Co-DC with Giles I could see. I am not married to Diaz's scheme especially with him gone and I hope Holtz isn't either. Pros are It would be nice for the players to have same system for once. They were 100% bought into this system, played some great D and love this style. Baker was brought here by Diaz so he knows his the scheme well. I guess Baker has to get a start somewhere and if he is the new DC he could be an up and coming DC and stick around for a few years but he has only been a full time position coach for 3 seasons I think.
JFord announced yesterday that Blake Baker would be promoted to DC.
Coaching Search has heard this as well: Louisiana Tech: Per source, expect Skip Holtz to promote safeties coach Blake Baker to defensive coordinator.
At least we have game film and Baker to prep up against Diaz defense. Miss State has nothing on Baker!
Well let's spread the savings around and give all of our assistants a boost in pay, maybe we can keep everyone else then.
So we need a LB and DL coach right?
I wonder if Brick Haley (LSU D-line coach) is now an option for Tech's DC position. LSU brought in Kevin Steele to replace Chavis, and word on the street is that Haley isn't going to be pleased with being passed over for the position.
Anyone know how much money Tech has to throw around for the DC position?
No--it's Blake Baker. Reported here and elsewhere:

I find it curious that footballscoop.com hasn't reported that Blake Baker is being promoted to DC. They usually report on everything, even Division III and NAIA. They sure jumped on LSU's hiring of Ed Orgeron.
