The Debate between Tech & LSU

I thought Henderson turned off the afterburners at about the 5 yard line like he thought he wasn't going to be caught before crossing the goal line. Perhaps he was winded, felt a twinge in his hammie, or just needed more time to think about his end zone celebration - but he seemed to slow down to me.

Have you thought about maybe Carlos misread the video board he was running towards and a split second or so slower than the live action on the field. Maybe that's why he slowed down.

Here's a broad, generalized position based only my own observation ...

Tech's first string, in most years, can hold their own with most $ec or Big12 teams for about 2.5 quarters of football. Often about midway through the third quarter, the performance of Tech's starters will begin to succumb to the accumulated affects of fatigue and minor injuries, while their opponent remains fresh by means of frequent subbing. (This is typically the point at which a one or two score contest turns into a rout.)

I really believe that Tech's top players, in most years, play on largely the same level as any P5 school, save for perhaps the top 10 or 15 programs in a given year. The difference between Tech's talent and that of most P5s is found not amongst the best players but in the backups.

Against most P5 schools, you're 100% right. They don't call LSU the NFLU for no reason...talent is just out of this world. It really is a testament to the incredible talent this state produces, but we're usually getting a lower echelon on that talent totem pole.

Most players that go to LSU are some of the best high school players in the nation....with a football resume that is like no other. They go there for 2 reason - to have a shot at the NFL and to compete for a national championship.

LSU is a top 10 national program over the past decade. We can't compete with that in a year to year basis.

Tech offers a young man the opportunity to shine on a national stage. We won't get the 5 star recruits - but we can have very solid teams that places multiple players on NFL rosters.

Not every kid can go to LSU, Bama or Michigan. We are a great choice for a young man that wants a National Tier 1 education, at a great university that is constantly improving.

Tech/ Ruston is a great community with a tremendous support network. You are more than another meathead in the system...waiting years to get a spot on the field.

At Tech, you will get on the field, get on TV, play for conference championships, and go to some cool bowls.

Most importantly, you can be a part of a program moving to become a part of the major college football scene - it won't happen overnight - but we are now moving in that direction. Who would not want to be a part of that?

I thought the difference was the DB saw Henderson open and begin running full speed before he caught it and had an angle. The pass was a little behind target and Carlos has to slow down to catch it then reaccelarate. The DB never slowed down.

I think Tech players are more like Jacob Hester, not a lot of recruiting hype but they develop into good college players. Lsu players are recognized as the cream of the HS ranks

spent weekend with one of my sons and his LSU buddies--all were nice and dislike ULL. EASY answer-- for LSU folks its about guys in pros ( and dislike of coach) Learn names of our guys in pros and remind them we have more guys in NFL hall of fame than they do ( technically its the same ) . Bring up our history of qbs and remind them Dixon broke Faulks record. Move conversion from Tech vs LSU to good enough for NFL

All three of our NFL hall of famers went in after LSU's last one went in. Their last one to go in was Jim Taylor who they share with Hinds Community College.

In my experience we don't start the debate. It is the lsu wannabe that begins with something like... none of your guys could even make waterboy at LSU... or all your players would be hurt before three games if y'all played our schedule ... or y'all need to recognize who y'all are and drop down cuz y'all can't compete in Division wuuuunnnn!

One on one conversations are cool. And I guess talking about it on the board is kosher. It just reeks of little brother syndrome to me. God knows we've ridiculed other in-state schools for the same thing that we're doing here.
