I don’t think that most Americans expected this much chaos and divisiveness under Trump. We will see how they feel about his style now.

Trump has been targeted by the Left and has had to deal with one hoax after another, all the while it, the Left, has been engaged in the very things they accuse him of. Trump has had to deal with the Fake News, The Swamp, the Deep State, all aided and abetted by the Russians and the Chicoms, and Islamic Terrorists....oh, and the Mexican Drug Cartels as well, and funded by the likes of Nazi George Soros. Trump has had to react to attack after attack, he has not started any of it.
Yep, it is appropriate for the other party to be "the loyal opposition" but unfortunately, the Dems have not stuck to acceptable debate and offering alternatives but rather have crossed into outright hostility all rooted in "winning" for their political party. The good of the nation and the American people be damned!
Trump is not like past GOP presidents/office holders who kowtow to The Swamp just to "get along." He pushes back, so yeah, the level of rhetoric has risen because for the first time, really, there are TWO sides stirring the pot, not just one side (Left/Swamp).

Frank Gaffney said he cannot conceive of Democrats allowing Joe Biden to be president given the Democrat presidential nominee’s allegedly compromised status from family dealings with foreign governments, offering his analysis on Wednesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow.
“I’m convinced Joe Biden won’t be President of the United States,” said Gaffney, host of Securing America on America’s Voice and executive chairman and founder of the Center for Security Policy. “Even if he’s elected, I can’t conceive of the party actually allowing him anywhere near the Oval Office.”
