I have been saying this.
Typical gutless SEC money grab. They are too chicken to come play here and instead buy their way out.
We should decline the offer if they want to buy out the game.
Its bad business on our part. It is another example of how bad our ADs have been over the years. Instead of actually getting P5 home games, we schedule them half a decade in advance and let them get bought out just before it is to be played. We have had 1 single P5 opponent in Ruston from what I can recollect. This is a horrible trend and its embarrasing. UTSA is a 3 year old program and they regularly play P5 teams at home.
Yep! we're their lone road OOC in 2016. That's the one OOC game they will want to change. They might do something with the USA and/or Tulane games as well. But, for sure, they will want to rid themselves of an OOC roadie. Top priority.
Time is your friend. Impulse is your enemy. -John Bogle
State's home schedule in 2016 lacks its big 3 rivals (Ole Miss, lsu and Bama.) I think it is a good chance they play their P5 opponent at home in 2016 and leave the Tech game alone.
We have never sold out our own stadium......enough said. We are also not in the business of training coaches for others, thats what minor league teams do. Playing P5 programs at home will help us a lot more than the short sighted financial gain we would recieve from a buy out. I'm still fuming about us letting the BYU and Houston games get away from us.
Obviously we want to play the game, but there are some things beyond our control. We can control the contracts we sign. P5's will always buy-out games...we just need to make sure they pay dearly when they do.
As for training coaches, check out 1999-2006 and you tell me which path is better.
