How about this guy: Just goes to show you that great coaches can develop any type of talent. Some players just need a certain type of coach, and I think we currently have that system in place at Tech.

28 of 38 (74%) rated players were 3 or 4 star. That tells me the ratings are pretty darn good.

I basically agree but does make you wonder how many 0-2 star players never got a shot ( ie Hunter) -- we put a lot of players in NFL who were in that 26%. NFL more likely to draft a young man from SEC/Big 10 than smaller colleges. This ,DJ, from a guy who wastes way to much time looking at Rivals and stars-- apparently not as much time as my son sportsdawg -- TCU ,Boise have been great program around 3 stars and below -

Re: TOP 100 recruits La 2015

Michael Bennett, one of the guys who wasn't rated, was at one time a Louisiana Tech commitment, if my memory serves me correctly. A lot of the big guys, including Texas A&M, came in late and offered him hoping to get a package deal with his younger brother, Martellus. Martellus Bennett was a five-star recruit and the No. 1 tight end in the country coming out of high school. Texas A&M's efforts worked, as Michael signed in 2004 and Martellus followed in 2005. Funny how everything works, though. Michael Bennett has developed into possibly the better NFL player (though Martellus was a Pro Bowler this season) and is going for his second straight Super Bowl on Sunday.

Michael did sign with TECH and reported to fall camp for two weeks, then transferred. Stan Eggan was D Line coach, Carl Torbush was D Coordinator for A & M.

That is correct, I remember him during fall camp.

We didn't even use a TE back then so there was zero chance I would think in grabbing his bro.

Don't forget the star ratings change a lot depending on whom is interested in you.

I don't think we were necessarily interested in Martellus. We thought Michael could be a productive defensive end for us. At that time, we were the level many thought he should sign at. The big boys thought he was worth giving a scholarship too so they could land his little brother. This happens quite often in recruiting.
