I don't expect a vote now--voting UAB out now accomplishes nothing and creates a lot of ill will. But waiting until the spring meetings will mean UAB probably gets to stick around for 2015-16.

Either UAB getting football back or stay at 13. Don't backfill if UAB is gone.

It's hard to feel sorry for UAB. Back in the mid 1990's they were a start-up football program that came from out of nowhere. In a short, 3-year period, UAB bypassed several more traditional football programs --including LA Tech-- by receiving a much coveted invitation to join CUSA in 1996. That was practically unheard of back then. I still remember many LA Tech fans feeling that LA Tech was much more suited for CUSA membership than UAB. Obviously they were right. At least LA Tech has a traditional fan base, and leadership that's not on CRACK!!!
At one time CUSA was a stout MBB conference. UAB's tradition (Gene Bartow) in Men's hoops and their location in a bigger city got them into CUSA 20 years ago. It wasn't their football....
http://hamptonroads.com/2015/01/conf...o-decision-uabIf UAB decides to reinstitute football, C-USA officials say privately that the school most certainly will be allowed to remain in the league.
However, officials add that UAB won’t be allowed to remain without football. Having football and non-football schools in the same league was a policy C-USA abandoned more than a decade ago.
I felt sorry for them (and still do a little), but UA is their Momma and no one is going to change that. If they are able to field a team again, are we willing to have a subpar football team in the conference with no hope of them ever surpassing a certain standard. Anytime they gain a little momentum, UA will put them in their place again. It doesn't matter if the current President is gone or not. UA will never let them be a contender. I am now of the opinion that we need to cut them loose. Sorry UAB........ I hate it for you, but you have two years as an FCS program IF you start back up and, then, will be kept in check. Make a split and come back to talk! Basketball is good, so that is our only loss with them.
Hopefully UAB's demise is all of the evidence needed so that Louisiana Tech alumni never again discuss how we should move to the LSU System. What a walk to the gallows that would have been for Tech Athletics.
I actually think we should kick FIU out of the conference -
No radio broadcast team for basketball
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
That would only serve to gift wrap a conference championship game for the Belt. And give them a presence in Fla.
FIU will outlast this episode if only for the fact that they serve multiple purposes for a lot of East Division teams. With two Florida schools, Marshall, WKU, ODU, and MTSU are all garaunteed a Florida game every year. Those Eastern schools use Florida about like we use Texas.
I for one, can't stand any of the Eastern Division Schools. Visit the CUSA board and you will see what I mean. As far as I am concerned the West is pretty close to perfect for us as it is. Whatever they decide to do in the East is none of my concern.
