Brady or Rattay?

Saw this in an article on the Grantland.com website.

"The Patriots famously went back and forth in their draft room between Brady and Louisiana Tech passer Tim Rattay before choosing the former, and the rest is history."

I'm not saying Tim would have had a Tom Brady type of career but he certainly would have had a much better career had he not been drafted by the 49ers. Terrible, terrible OL.

By the time Tim became the starter in SF the OL had fallen apart. I saw a list a few years ago that listed that SF OL along with the Cardinals OL of those years as two of the bottom 10 in NFL history.

He had terrible timing to get drafted by that organization. They were in serious cost-cutting mode through most of his tenure there. I think the year he became starter, they lost 3-5 of their best players (heck, I think part of the reason he started that year is that he was cheaper than Jeff Garcia, so they let Garcia walk).
