Louisiana Tech University
Flagship of the University of Louisiana System
This unique branding opportunity for Louisiana Tech was made possible through the generosity of a benefactor who connected the university with the race team. The supporter wanted to help promote the university by providing the resources needed to create the Tech-themed car wrap, team uniforms and apparel, and marketing materials.
Thank You!
Isn't this a first?
I do not follow NASCAR, but I have seen broadcasts in passing. Has there ever been a university sponsored car?
This is the ARCA Series which is complete separate from NASCAR although the cars are similar.
I seem to remember one team doing a paint scheme for the college football national champion for one race the last few years. I'm not sure about the ARCA Series, but I definitely don't remember a college or university sponsoring a race car team in any of NASCAR's top three series (Winston Cup/Sprint Cup, BUSCH/Nationwide Series, Truck Series).
It's happened quite regularly
Sterlin Marlin - an AVID Tennessee VOL fan and two time Daytona 500 winner used to run a VOLUNTEER car at Bristol on an annual basis
The Alabama Gang - most notably Davey Allison & Bobby Allison would run a BAMA car at Dega on numerous occasions
There have been cars for Auburn, UNC, and Virginia Tech also
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
MeTooU scrambling to get one at the dirt track.
Marshall University was represented by Herd Racing, LLC in two NASCAR Nationwide Series races (2009 race in Montreal & 2010 race in New Hampshire).
Western Kentucky was the sponsor of the #05 car in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Nashville (Federated Auto Sports 300) in 2009.
I should have said these type of sponsorships by universities don't happen in NASCAR for an entire season, but for a race or two only and usually at a nearby race.
