I'm assuming it would be 160-180 feet in length. Perhaps that is raising the cost above what you might expect.
Looking around online, Arkansas installed two 100 ft LED ribbon boards to their baseball stadium with a project cost of $340,000. I just think the estimate cost of $500k that you heard sounds a bit inflated. I don't know. Could be including the cost of running cables, utilities, etc. Also, I thought we were going to have the production room in the new SEZ, unless that was nixed.
Would make sense that something that small could be operated from the endzone, regardless of where the big board controls are located.
I guess you would then have 2 crews or at least 2 people running things from 2 different spots. We already mess up what we have. Never mind, bad idea.
IFRC the mock ups gave the impression it would be tied into the game states, showing points, down/YTG, time, and play clock. So may have some extra data cabling/programming to tie it in. Who knows, I just hope it's there and operational on Sept 5th.
You are correct. The number I was originally given was inflated. Your number is much closer. It was casual conversation, so I guess I'll give him a pass.
I suppose it's possible he said 3 and I heard 5.
