Former Louisiana Tech quarterback and assistant coach Mickey Slaughter will be honored with the Contribution to Amateur Award, given annually to provide recognition to an individual whose efforts and activities support the foundation and whose goals have been local in nature.
If you've ever heard Coach Mick holler his distinctive encouragement from the stands at his grandchildren's ballgames you'd understand why he deserves this award.
What a jewel of a man.

Excellent. His "his distinctive encouragement," causes me to recall that "distinctive" call down the halls of our dorm room early in the mornings he made his rounds. We (Tech alum & student), along with our great University, are all blessed in some manner by this quality gentleman.

It is a much deserved honor...
Very disappointed that our school did NOT have any formal representation at the awards banquet last night -
Very poor taste and shows a total lack of respect for such fine men as Mr. Leo Sanford and Mr. Bobby Aillet
Especially no one there from the current football staff or the AD's office
