Seedings at Conference Tourney

I am certainly NOT looking past our last two home games at the TAC, however I have been looking forward to the potential seedings in the conference tournament that is only a couple weeks away. With Tech's probable number 1 seed, our first game in the quarter finals would be against either the 8th or 9th seed. Currently that would be either UTSA or Rice, making this weekend's game very important.

For the semi's, barring an upset, Tech would likely face the 4th or 5th seed. Even looking at the remaining regular season games for WKU, ODU, UTEP, and UAB, all currently tied for 2nd and 4th place, the chances are very good the ODU and WKU will be the 4th and 5th seed. They play each other in the last regular season game, but even then, the only difference would be which team gets 4th seed and 5th.

Here's my point, I personally DO NOT want to play ODU in Semis and potentially UAB in the finals. That is the absolute worst case senario for Tech to win the conference tourney and make it to the Dance. I'm rooting for WKU to win out, so at least ODU would have to play an extra game in the tournament. Tech can beat anybody, especially with how they played Thursday. But my dream scenario is playing WKU in the semis and UTEP in the finals.

Agree - not sure what happened to our players at Norfolk - we were never into that game.
Best case scenario for us is UTEP eliminate UAB in the semi. Whoever we get in the semi will be the same.
We just need to win our first game against the 8/9th seed.

I agree, still hoping UTEP takes out UAB on the other side of the bracket. But I'd rather we play WKU than ODU anyday.

They won Thursday which basically sealed the deal on this week's game -

It was 5 degrees outside and they were just as cold as the temp - it got away because we were lazy on offense like we had been against FAU & FIU

It was just one of those nights - and they happen to EVERYONE in basketball except maybe Kentucky...

Winning on the ROAD is very very tough regardless of the opponent

UAB was a bad substitution mid way through the 2nd half that swung the game -

Basketball is always a game of runs - making the run and then stopping the opposing team's run

All we have to do is hold court next two games then it becomes a one and done for EVERYONE

Actually, Tech's style of play is not exactly conducive to winning 3 games in 3 days. You saw how fatigued we were in the second half against Tulsa last year.

Despite what they said on the postgame show, the No. 1 seed/NIT auto bid is not quite sealed yet, especially with UTEP's inexplicable collapse and UAB's 3OT win. We do NOT want to have to wait two days to see how the tiebreaker process with UAB would shake out. Beat Southern Miss, and we enjoy Thursday night and get to relax on Saturday.

With two conference game dates remaining, we know that we have a first round bye. USM and Florida Atlantic are eliminated from the tournament.

With a win over USM Thursday night, we will be outright regular season champions and get the #1 seed.
