If the benefactor/donor doesn't get a semblance of empowerment/privilege or sense of worth with their gift - then in most instances that donor/benefactor will shift those monies elsewhere...

I believe it gives us an ear into which we can speak, and the ability to influence governance, but it doesn't give us decision-making power or the privilege of full-disclosure. Giving someone a semblance of empowerment/privilege or sense of worth is nothing more than sales...and is the job of leadership to keep us coming back to "buy."
