I honestly thought UAB's coach was going to win Coach of the Year but am happy for White. Speedy earned it, I hope he reaffirms it during the conference tournament.

In other news, former Tech coach Keith Richard was Sunbelt's Coach of the Year. Congratulations to him.

He won't. Did you see the all-district/region team? Not a single C-USA player or coach made any All-District team. Our district had LSU's Mickey, LSU's Martin, and NWST's Zeek Woodley (who was 2nd team All-SLC). Pretty much guarantees Speedy won't be LSWA POTY. Then there's ULL's Long and NWST's West who will both definitely get some 1st team votes. Appleby and Hamilton pretty much have no chance at 1st Team LSWA honors after they got screwed by the Conference USA voters.

As a voter, I guarantee you the all-region team plays no role on the All-LSWA team. None. Being C-USA Player of the Year will carry a lot of weight. There are good players in the state. Very good. At least one of Speedy, Jalan, Zeek (the second-leading scorer in the NATION), Long, Martin and Mickey will not make the first team. That's pretty dang tough. But Speedy will be the only conference Player of the Year among those top six players, and I think that will mean a lot.

IMO Speedy and Coach White won what matters, the CUSA awards. Most don't even pay attention to those other awards, but if Speedy gets it great!

Yep. Can't worry too much about awards where the voters are predominantly from south Louisiana. I've been in on those votes, too. I know how they go.

Yep. IIRC the APR mess Richard left for Rupp cost us 2 scholarships.
