Fox Sports, CBS Sports Network and NBC Sports Network are the likely networks that would televise the new bowls

ESPN reported that all four new proposed bowl games are expected to be approved. Generally, if bowl sponsors have signed deals with two conferences and a television network, games are routinely approved, according to ESPN.

If Arizona & Austin are approved, that would give C-USA 8 primary bowl slots for 13 teams. AAC would have 9 slots for 12 teams.

C-USA has no bids to major bowls, but all eight bowls are in attractive locations: Nassau, the Bahamas; St. Petersburg and Miami Beach, Fla.; Dallas and Austin, Texas; New Orleans, La., Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Tucson.

Last year, the American only had 6 eligible teams (2013 they had 5). That could leave open 2 attractive slots for C-USA teams - Little Rock & Orlando.

This is beyond ridiculous the top 84 teams go bowling. A bowl game is now a participation trophy or more like the CBI or CIT tournaments in BB.

The market dictates how many bowl games we have available. CBI and CIT aren't market driven at all.

Bowl games are for the cites to make money.... as an aside, 84 teams will get extra practices and an extra game at the end of the year. The more the merrier, imo. How many times have we sat home with 6 or more wins? 5 or 6?

Then dont watch it. As for me, I will be watching MORE COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

It has nothing to do with the worthiness of the participating teams. "Earning" a bowl or "deserving" a bowl is a fiction. A myth. A unicorn.

It's ONLY about attracting tourists to the host community, and that's all it's ever been.

Is it a bad thing for cities to market themselves with a marathon? A comic book convention? A karate tournament? Then why not a football game?

It is SO MUCH more difficult to earn a slot in those to tourneys than it is for a team to go bowling

Now the CIT and CBI are two steps below the lowest of the low bowl games - you have to PAY to PLAY in those tourneys

Fair??? Nothing about College Football is fair. Its about money and if its to be made on bowls, we will continue to have as many bowls as the market will allow. If Tech is in one, I am all for it.

And so many teams turned down the "opportunity" to play in the CBI that the selection committee almost did not get its job done before midnight on the night of the tournament selections.

I am of the same opinion. Water it down and I won't watch. Unless Tech is playing or it is one of the top 5-6 bowls, I will do my best to be duck or deer hunting with baby boy anyway.

Unless your team is playing or its a top 5-6 bowl matchup, most folks aren't going to watch anyway. But enough watch to make it profitable. Its like the week before you go on a diet. You eat everything you can before then. I'm the same way about football. After mid-January I'm screwed for 8 months.

It use to mean something when you went bowling, now everyone does so it doesn't mean much.
