disses LSU quarterback coaching and says good coaches leaving Tech for greener grass an inevitability
Shreveport Times today
It seems that 3 years is the magic number for good coaches at Tech. Manny Diaz was just 1 year though.
He was chit-chatting with Brandon Harris and offering support to him at the Louisiana Football Legends event in Bossier City on April 9th.

Reading the Times article I noticed that he referred to Tech's team as "we". He has a lot of himself invested in Tech and I'm very proud to have been there at the same time.
We need more former Dawgs stepping up like TB does.
I saw the interview or speech as it was and he said something to the effect that we will and then Skip will leave, we will replace him like we always do and keep winning.
Skip Holtz has the name and the record both at Tech and elsewhere to be a sought-after coach if Tech has another good season in 2015.
Hudspeth has four NO Bowl victories and winning seasons at ULL, but where are the signature victories and conference titles? No wins over the BCS/Power 5 conference schools and no outright Sun Belt Championships in four years.
Also, Louisiana Tech has the reputation of coaches who do well and get offers for other larger schools (Dooley to Tennessee, Dykes to Cal, Mike White almost to Tennessee last year). ULL does not have that yet.
I think he will get offers, but if it's resurrecting a garbage program, I think he will pass. He knows the risk, it's hard to get a HC job again if he stinks it up at a P5. Skip lucked out when Tech offered him the job after getting fired at USF. I think he'll wait for the right job with a contract that protects him from getting canned early.
Example of failed head coaches at P5.
Croom
Miss State HC, now RB coach Tennessee Titans
Dooley
Tennessee HC, now WR coach Dallas Cowboys
Kiffen
Tenn/USC HC, now OC Alabama
Orgeron
Ole Miss HC, now DL coach LSU
Skip will be at Tech for at least 5-6 years. He's not far enough removed from the disaster at USF that an AD would take a chance on him.
Skip will be here until at least the USF money runs out. Skip seems to be a good recruiter, manager and speaker. So far we are getting our money's worth. After 2013, I was one that wanted him gone but I was wrong. He has showed he can bring excitement to Tech football even with the WTF game every year. Unless a big P5 comes after Skip, he will be at Tech becuase Tech is a top G5 program.
I hope Rattay is learning what is required and networking with other coaches as I think he is HC in waiting. He has a couple more years to soak it all in.
In taliking with a higher up at TECH last year, he said Holtz indicated he wanted to be successful at TECH and in a few years, retire in Ruston.
