I'm hoping Skip's experience at USF taught him that getting the big money position is not necessarily a good thing and that building a legacy is better. I'm sure Barmore could have gone somewhere else for big money and ended up coaching several places. Instead, he chose to stay at Tech and now he and the Lady Techsters are synonymous with WBB dynasties.
Saw a story on Geno A. and UCONN WBB. He said the program was a dump when he arrived in 1984. His starting salary was $13K and his plan was to win a lot of games over 3-4 years and go somewhere else for more money. Obviously, he nixed that plan and has done pretty darn good for himself.
Addedum: When Sonya was here, she always got top billing. For a few years thereafter it was still Sonya/Leon. Not anymore. Now, it's Leon's Lady Techsters that won the championships and battled Pat Summit for so long. Only occasionally Sonya is mentioned nowadays.
