Driving through Baton Rouge over the weekend I saw a billboard along I-10 touting BR Rec's 6-7 golf courses that are open to the public. Really? And for how long?

Guys, Jordan Spieth should have given Tiger a huge hug when he was done winning. His take home pay is probably 1.5 times what it would have been if Tiger never existed. Tiger is like Nicklaus, they both increased the popularity of the game by immense portions. All current golfers can be grateful for that, Jordan Spieth is the least of them (as he would be rich regardless). However, your Hoffman's of the world can scrounge up a pretty nice livelihood just winning a tournament here and there over a 15 year career and getting a nice placing in the Masters.

GO IRISH!
and all of you GREEN with envy....bite it!
We lived on South Acadian in front of Catholic as a little kid and later as a young adult. You could drive straight across South Acadian onto Claycut straight to Webb. Green Fees and a Cart were 9 bucks. Everybody put a ball in that little swirly thing and if you were a single you played the next three guys up. You also tried like hell not to get run over when crossing College Dr. I actually learned how to play at JS Clark though because we lived in Central. Its a shame that Brec courses will eventually go the way of the dinosaurs. The demographic in Baton Rouge has changed to the point that no one really goes out and plays these old public courses anymore. I learned about honesty, integrity, honor and how to treat others on a golf course. Those are things you will be hard pressed to find in kids these days.
To all non-ND fans everywhere. Thanks to dawg80 for reminding us of the tune:
"Cheer, cheer for old Pivnick Tech! They're gonna take it right in the neck!
Send a call for "Taps" on high, as our whole team lies down to die!
What though the odds are great or they're small, old Pivnick Tech will fumble the ball!
As our undergrads get sick and transfer to USC!"
